Meet the Founder
Ian Hossfeld
Leader.
Ian has spent his life studying and practicing leadership. Driven by a desire to serve his country Ian attended the United States Naval Academy and pursued a career as a Navy SEAL officer. As a SEAL officer Ian deployed to Afghanistan, Bahrain, Iraq, and Oman, and was entrusted to lead disparate teams of US and partner nation forces, ranging in size from 4-75 people, executing a variety of missions from combat operations to working in an US Embassy. For his actions and leadership, Ian was awarded the Bronze Star Medal, Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal with Valor Device, and two Combat Action Ribbons. Ian continues to serve and lead SEALs as a Lieutenant Commander in the Naval Reserves.
Entrepreneur.
After serving on active duty for 8 years, Ian decided to pursue his passion for entrepreneurship in the private sector. His first stop on this journey was the Harvard Business School where Ian received an MBA, focusing his studies on entrepreneurship, finance, and management of small businesses. With this formal education and his years of leadership experience, he was ready to launch The Foss Mountain Company and own and operate a small business.
Family Man.
Outside of work Ian is a dedicated husband to Dani and proud father of Charlotte and Lucas. Despite being born of hearty New England stock, Ian has taken to Southern California and the 266 days of sunshine a year. The glorious weather provides copious opportunities for biking and going to the beach with his family. In his increasingly scarce spare time, he enjoys woodworking, barbecuing in his backyard, and being a sportsman.
